About Me

After ten years of working night shifts, weekends, and holidays, our family had had enough.  My wife and I rarely spent any time together, and it was nearly impossible to take any trips as a family.  When my wife took a promotion at work, we decided that I would be able to stay home full time and take care of our two kids.

Then, about a year later, we found out that my wife was pregnant again.  Through a series of complications and her workplace's heartless refusal to accommodate her, she was fired and I ended up returning to work on a part time scale.  While I do miss staying home full time to be with the kids, I have found that the two nights a week I work are a much needed break from my real job.  It's nice to be conscious, up, and about without someone asking for something every ten minutes.  It's nice to have a conversation with people that doesn't involve Dora, movies with talking animals, chocolate milk, or going potty.  My wife is beginning to settle in to her new job and we are currently considering my return to the full time stay at home dad status I once enjoyed.

In the meantime, I have been filling my limited amount of free time at home with creating this blog, which seems to me to be nothing more than a socially acceptable diary for grown men.  I am finding  it very therapeutic to vent about certain aspects of raising kids, and the opportunities I get to spend time writing about my kids and about activities I do with my kids is priceless.  I hope that one day, my children will be able to look back on this blog and see not only some of the fun things we did together, but also how much their Dad loves them.  Most days.
